Bill of material (BOM) | Free template

Bill of material is a free template to create a bill of materials for products that have multiple components in several different levels. A bill of material is a register of products with a list of included components and the number of each component required to produce one unit of the main product.

A bill of material provides a description of products that show how various products or components fit together. A bill of materials is needed to know which components of a product that has to be manufactured or assembled. A bill of material is needed to know which components to be picked and how many to pick, and where these components are to be taken (storage location) when a production order should be completed.

A bill of material is also used in the purchase process when MRP is used to plan the purchases from a sales forecast for the main product which is then broken down to component level in order to know the need for individual components.
