List of operations (BOL) is a free template to establish a register of the operations or activities to be undertaken to complete a product with an indication of the work site and time.

A list of operations provides a description of the production activities to be carried out, where the production activities should be carried out and the standard time which has been estimated for the setup and the production of each unit for specific products the company manufactures and sells. A list of operations is established for each product during the product development phase to determine what activities must be performed to complete the product.

The standard times in a bill of labor are determined by the implementation of time studies for activities in the manufacturing process of the product. For the period of study the time of the activity to produce the product are recorded and then an estimated average value for this is calculated and then you get an average time per unit (total time in minutes to produce 1000 units/1000). The average time per unit is then multiplied by a performance factor and this gives a normal time, if the test person performs 10% better than a normal person the performance factor is 1.1. You get the standard time by dividing the normal time with an adjustment factor that takes into account breaks, communication, fatigue and repairs and more, a normal adjustment factor is 80-85% (normal time/ adjustment factor).

A bill of labor can be used in many instances, it is used for scheduling, capacity planning, costing, pricing calculations, and are an important part of a production order. When a production order is completed, the company can establish a post-calculus for the production order and check real time spent compared to the standard time and actual cost compared to standard cost.
